It has been so refreshing this year in the run up to Christmas to see so many messages and support encouraging supporting small businesses over the big brands. Never is this message more important than around Black Friday, which can be a slightly disheartening display of mass consumerism for small businesses.
That is why I was so pleased to see the Just A Card Indie Friday Campaign. The message behind the Just A Card campaign is that all purchases, however big or small from an independent business are vital to the prosperity and success of a small business. It doesn’t matter if you can’t get every single bit of your Christmas shopping from an independent business – but just the smallest purchase of a card or other small item is hugely helpful. If every single person bought just one of their gifts from a small business, that could still make a huge impact.
In support of this campaign, I have pulled together some of my absolute favourite items from the loveliest of independent businesses. Lots of them would make brilliant, thoughtful gifts. I hope you enjoy browsing!
This one is all the way from Australia, but I am absolutely in love with the entire brand & packaging – Handmade Cloud Soap from Vice & Velvet, Etsy
(We found Julia’s beautiful work when we were on Honeymoon in Scotland)
This is quite a special one, but I’m absolutely in love with it – Gold Crescent Moon with Diamond Necklace, Rust Jewellery
The story behind this brand is heart-breaking and also beautiful. Go and have a look at their about page. No. 2 Sydney in Springtime Candle, Moments of Sense & Style
For any little ones in your life, how ridiculously adorable are these wooden cameras by Fanny & Alexander?! Available from Tea & Kate in the UK.
Instead of ‘Black Friday’, this beautiful jewellery brand Lines and Current are donating 30% of their profits to some amazing Children’s Charities. Read more here. Shop the beautiful ‘Dreamer’ Pendant Necklace with Initial here.
One of our lovely stockists, From Victoria, in Lewes, East Sussex, have the loveliest range of bath and beauty products, as well as lots of other great gift ideas.
And okay, I might be a little bit biased on this one, but we do have lots of lovely products over on Wildflower Illustration Co. that would make really nice, thoughtful gifts such as our Year’s Supply of Cards. In support of the Just a Card ‘Indie Friday’, we are offering a free card when you spend over £10 in our shop, 2 cards when you spend over £20 and a free A5 ‘berry art print’ when you spend over £35.
*Apart from our online shop, where we obviously have an interest, none of the above links are sponsored, affiliate or anything like that. Just some lovely items and shops which I believe are worthy of support!*
